Yellow Van Travels

Review: Car Organizer by upupstar

This is a review of our use of a car organizer from the Etsy shop upupstar.

They say that having a baby changes everything, and that has certainly been the case since Lucy was born. One of the things that changed is what I do in the car both while we are on road trips and just going from place to place. I now ride in the back of the car and spend a lot of my time making bottles and feeding the baby.

But I also have to keep up my former duties as navigator, snack distributer, and DJ. Ok not really DJ, I just push play on whatever Meagan wants to listen to. But this means that at any time I might be juggling a bottle, a formula can, a water bottle, two phones, a burp cloth, and of course a yellow van in the back seat.

After a couple trips like this I quickly realized that we needed a better solution than just the seat back pocket and the cupholders in our car (a Chevy Malibu). Fortunately last month we were sent a fabric car organizer from the shop upupstar on Etsy, and I am able to use it on all of our trips around here and on our most recent family trip to Dinosaur National Monument.

This car organizer has legitimately made my life so much easier. Meagan likes it because it is cute, and I like it because it is functional.

Features of the Car Organizer

upupstar sells a couple different car organizers on their store. We have the smaller version because we have a small car. Ours has the train pattern which is really great for travelers, but all of the fabrics they use are super cute.

The car organizer attaches to either the front or back of seat with an adjustable strap and clip. This makes moving it around and using it in different cars super easy.

The top portion of the organizer is a plastic pocket that you can put your phone in and still be able to use the touch screen controls. Lucy and I don’t really watch shows in the back of the car, so I mostly use this to hold little things like receipts and park pamphlets.

The bottom portion is like two fabric cup holders. They are pretty large so you can fit quite a bit in them. I always use this when making Lucy’s bottles. It is so nice to have a place to set all the different pieces that I need. I will also put random things like my keys, headphones, and baby toys here.

At the back of the cup holders are elastic straps where you can put something that you want to stand up. I use these all the time to hold our phones.

Unlike the larger car organizer they sell, this small one doesn’t have a place for a garbage sack. But on our last trip we just attached a small plastic bag to the clip strap and that worked out really well.

Sum Up

I really like this car organizer a lot, and would highly recommend it to you if you try to juggle a lot of things in the car. This small one is $17.99 on Etsy and is great if you have a small car, the larger one is $35.00 and would be great if you have a van (we will have a van someday!)
