Visiting the Grand Ole Opry

The Grand Ole Opry is one of Nashville’s top things to see and do. And there is a good reason for that! It was my favorite thing we did when we were in Nashville. That surprised me because I wasn’t overly excited to go see a show at the Grand Ole Opry.

What You Need to Know About the Grand Ole Opry:

The Grand Ole Opry is located at 2804 Opryland Drive. It is located next to a large mall so there is plenty of parking. You may have to park far away depending on what time you get to the Grand Ole Opry House. But there is a drop off area for those in your group who can’t walk long distances.

Make sure you purchase your tickets in advance. Look at the website often because they don’t always list who will be performing during the show until very close to when you want to go. Sometimes they have big, current Country music stars and other times they are lesser known performers. But all of them are great! I didn’t recognize any of the performers but I thought almost all of them were amazing!

I was a little nervous going to the Grand Ole Opry and not knowing any of the singers because I am not really a Bluegrass or Traditional Country music fan. But I was pleasantly surprised with how good and beautiful the performances were! There was a great mix of Bluegrass, folk, old and modern Country music.

We were allowed to bring Lucy who was 8 months old at the time and they didn’t really seem to care that a baby was there which was so nice and comforting to parents like us. Now, Ben did spend most of the first half of the show out in the foyer/lobby with her, watching the performances on the TVs there, but it was so nice that we were able to bring her anyways instead of having to find a sitter and have one of our family members who we were vacationing with miss out on this fun family experience.

Sum Up:

The Grand Ole Opry is a fantastic choice for anyone who enjoys musical performances. There is a great variety and no one sings more than a few songs. So if you don’t like a performer, they won’t be on stage for long! It is a fun, family friendly event that is really, really worth the time and money.
