If you’re in Nashville, you almost have to go to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It’s kind of a requirement. We went with my mom and my sister when we spent a few days in Nashville earlier this year. It is a really fun experience and has a lot of neat exhibits, but you definitely need to be a fan of Country music in order to appreciate and enjoy the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
What You Need to Know About the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum:
The Country Music Hall of Fame is located right in the middle of Nashville in the Sobro area. It’s address is 222 5th Ave South. There are plenty of parking lots and garages all around the area that make it easy to park and get into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. It may require a little bit of a walk but there is a drop off area out front if you have people with you who can’t walk very far.
You can purchase tickets online ahead of time which is what we recommend doing. You can purchase them here. Also make sure to check their hours here before you plan your trip. They may be closed early for special events.
What You Will Do At the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum:
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is split into two main parts: the museum and the Hall of Fame. You will go through the museum first. There are many exhibits on the history of Country music as well as some exhibits that are shorter term that focus on newer or more modern Country music stars. When we were there, one of these exhibits was on Shania Twain which I absolutely loved! She was the first singer I really listened too as a little girl and she is what got me into Country music.
There was also a fun hands on exhibit when we were there that let you become the next Country music star. You created a profile and went to all of these different exhibits and did things like a music star or learned about what it takes to be a star. It was by far our favorite part and we spent the most time there.
After you have visited the museum, which will be the bulk of where you spend your time, you will enter into the Hall of Fame. This is a smallish room that is in a circle. You can walk around and see all of the inductees with the dates they were inducted. It was a fun experience and interesting to see some of my favorite singers in the Hall of Fame.
You can also add onto your ticket other experiences like Studio B where Elvis did a lot of recording or the Hatch Print Shop which was probably our favorite thing we did in Nashville.
Sum Up:
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum are definitely one of the top things to do in Nashville. That being said, you probably will only enjoy it if you like Country music. If you’re only semi-interested in Country music, I would skip it and do something else. But if you are interested in Country music and like it, it is a very interesting and fun experience.
