It’s that time of year again, the time when you need to make sure that you have a thoughtful and meaningful gift for everyone you love, or at least all the people who you think might give a gift to you. Finding gifts can be hard, and I’ll be the first to admit that I normally leave it until the last minute (Meagan hates that). But this year I’m going to try and make it easier on you by showing you what you can get for the travelers on your list (and let’s be honest, isn’t everyone a traveler?).
I have broken this down into sections based on how much you want to spend, so first decide how much you love the traveler you are giving a gift to, and then you can just scroll down to the section that matches that.
Of course many of these links are affiliate links, so we get a small payback if you buy them using the link. But I really tried to build this list by thinking what I use all the time as a traveler, and what I wish I had as a traveler. So most of these items are things that I or Meagan actually use almost every time we travel (or at least when we do a specific kind of travel, like camping).
$100-$500 Gifts
For travelers you really love a lot I recommend getting some kind of camera. There is nothing like making memories while you travel, so a camera makes an awesome gift for the traveler. Of course a lot of travelers already have plenty of camera gear, so I have a couple other options as well.
Panasonic G7
This awesome camera has really come down in price which makes it a great gift. I am honestly amazed that you can get it for under $500 now. It is very powerful for its size so it is great for travelers. We use it to take pictures and videos all the time.
GoPro Hero 7 Black
GoPros are amazing cameras for travel, especially when you want to do something amazing and can’t take your DSLR or Mirrorless camera with you. Even though the GoPro Hero 8 is out now I still recommend getting the 7 Black because it will save you money and it is almost as good as the 8. I have a full traveler’s review of the Hero 7 Black here.
iPad 2019
My iPad 2018 is a complete life saver when traveling. It is how I edit our photos and videos while we are still on the road. It is so much lighter and cheaper than a laptop that it just makes sense to use it as your travel computer. And now the iPad 2019 is even better, but still the same price!
Away Carry-On
This is one of the items that we don’t actually own, but we wish we did. Away carry-ons look awesome and have great reviews. Starting at $225 they are a little expensive, but they have a lifetime guarantee, so whoever you give it to will never have to buy a carry-on again.
$50-$100 Gifts
For the person you love quite a bit we have some other great gift options.
Beckworth and Co Folding Table
We have been using this table on camping and day trips this year and Meagan did a full review of it earlier. It is a super useful table for camping because it folds up so small. If you are camping in a place with no picnic tables it is a life saver. This table makes a great gift idea because it is likely something that they don’t have already and will be surprised to receive (I like to surprise people).
Mophie Powerstation XXL
We have talked about and recommended you get external batteries before. As a traveler they are a must because so much of our travel information is found and stored on our phones these days. If we lose power we will really be out of luck, so do you friend a favor and give them one of these that can keep them charged for days.
Spivo Stick
This one is actually sometimes under $50 if you get it on sale. We’ve talked about Spivo Stick before, in fact we have a whole review from when they first came out. They are so useful for anyone filming on a GoPro that we really recommend it if you are giving to an adventure enthusiast. Again this is one of those things that they probably don’t have yet but would be delighted to get.
$10-$50 Gifts
For people you like but don’t want to spend too much money on, we have a selection of super useful travel gifts that will actually endear you to that person because they will use them all the time.
Travel Tripod from Spivo
Continuing with the Spivo theme we have this excellent bendy legged travel tripod. This is actually the only tripod I take traveling these days, so it basically goes everywhere with us. I have written a full review of it, but suffice it to say, I think this gift will make you a hero.
Carseat Head Support from Sweet Carol Designs
We are a family travel blog after all, so I bet many of you are driving around with kids. When kinds fall asleep in a carseat their heads flop every which way, this is a great gift for a kid or someone with kids to keep those little heads safe. We use this on road trips with Lucy, and Meagan has written up a full review.
Packing Cubes
I don’t know if we have talked about packing cubes enough. Ok, I know we talk about them all the time, they are probably on every gift guide we have ever written, but seriously they make packing and staying organized on your trip so much easier. They used to be a lot harder to find, but now there are lots of options, including these compression ones we have been using lately that I linked to above. If you don’t know what to get a traveler just get them these, they probably need them even if they already have some.
Travel Scarf from Pierron + Co
Of course, we have to talk about one of our favorite travel items ever (well Meagan’s favorite, I don’t actually wear one). These scarves make excellent gifts for a traveler because they are so dang useful, keep the most important necessities concealed and close at hand with the hidden pocket.
Under $10
You can’t give a big gift to everyone, but you can give them something valuable. What could be more valuable than a memory or dream (which are really just the same thing from different sides). So of course, we recommend you buy a printable travel poster from our Etsy shop. If someone you know loves one of these places buy them a poster, if they haven’t been but dream of going buy them a poster, if you shared a special moment there then buy them a poster!
As you probably know we just launched our Disney World collection in September, but we also have posters for National Parks and European destinations. Each poster is just $5.
