What You Need to Know For A Boston Harbor Cruises

One of the items included in the Boston City Pass is the option for a 90 minute harbor cruise of Boston Harbor. We were excited to see the harbor from this unique vantage point while we were in Boston.

How to Get to Boston Harbor Cruises:

Boston Harbor Cruises are located right along the warf next to the New England Aquarium. To get your tickets for a Boston Harbor Cruise, you can purchase tickets same day on Long Warf, reserve them online here, or if you are using the City Pass voucher, you can simply present it at the ticket booth on Long Warf to redeem your voucher and get your cruise time.

What You Will Do on a Boston Harbor Cruise:

You will take a 90 minus historic tour around Boston Harbor. The narrated tour will give you historical information about the harbor as well as point out local landmarks. (To see other Boston Harbor Cruise options click here.) There is a full snack bar on the boats with plenty of food and drink options.

You will board the boat and find a place to sit. There is both interior and exterior seating. The time of day you cruise may determine where you want to sit. We chose to sit in the front of the boat in the interior. Mostly because we had Lucy in a stroller and couldn’t get her to the top, open deck. And the other reason is because we didn’t want her (or us!) to get too cold and wet. The day we went the waves were pretty choppy and were getting the people outside quite wet.

The 90 minute tour was a really unique way to see Boston and to learn more about the history of this major U.S. city. We heard stories not just from the Revolutionary War but from other points in history as well which made it very interesting. We were able to go past the site of the Boston Tea Party as well as the Harbor Islands National Park area.

Sum Up:

Boston Harbor Cruises are a great and unique way to see the city of Boston. With great narration and guides, you are sure to learn more about this historic U.S. city. Make sure to pack jackets or sunscreen depending on the time of year (and if you’re planning on sitting outside!) Also make sure to take some motion sickness medication if you are prone to seasickness.
