Yellow Van Travel Tips: Preserving Travel Memories

This month’s Yellow Van Travel Tip is for after you come home. What do you do with all those photos and videos you took on your trip? How do you organize them? How do you relive those great moments and memories? Today’s post will give you 3 ways we like to preserve our travel memories.

Photo Books

Photo books are a simple, easy way to get your photos and memories down into one place. We like to do a photo book for each year and within that book we always have multiple pages about the trips we took that year. For some of our bigger trips (like when we went to the Mediterranean and the British Isles) we like to have another photo book that is just for that trip.

There are TONS of websites that you can use to create a photo book. We usually use Shutterfly because we often get a coupon code for a free photo book. It is a basic, 8×8 book but it works fine for us. If you’re looking for something more high end you can definitely find those websites as well.

When you create your photo book, most websites let you be as involved as you want. You can meticulously choose where each photo goes, the size and placement on the page, etc. Or most websites will let you just auto fill the photos you have selected and the website will automatically place them in the book.

Music Videos

Another way we like to preserve our travel memories is by making music videos. Some trips we choose a song and lip sync in some of the places we travel. Other trips we just compile all of our short video clips into one video and put some music on behind the clips. It really depends on how long our trip is and where we are going. For example, it is easier to lip sync when we are at a National Park because it is less crowded and we can find spots where we aren’t in the middle of everyone.

Photo Prints

Lastly we like to print some of our favorite photos from a trip and use them to decorate our house. We have a wall in our house that has 6 identical frames where we print 8×10 photos from our trips. This wall is reserved for our absolute favorite photos and it doesn’t always get changed. But it is a nice way to see some of your favorite memories from your travels every day.

Sum Up:

These are just some of the ways we like to preserve our memories for after we get home. Do you do any of these things? What are some of your favorite ways to preserve your travel memories? Leave us a comment below.
