Lava Hot Springs Swimming Pool

Lava Hot Springs is a town that is obviously best known for its Hot Springs. Last week I wrote about a different activity there, floating the river, but this week I am going to back to the roots of the town. The Lava Hot Springs swimming pool, officially the Lava Hot Springs Olympic Swimming Complex, is an aquatics facility with plenty to offer. It is probably the thing most people think of if they have ever visited Lava Hot Springs.

We were there last summer for a family reunion so we went to the pool with about twenty people. We all had a good time swimming and playing in the pools.

Facilities at the Lava Hot Springs Swimming Pool

There is plenty to here. There is, of course, a large outdoor swimming pool. This takes up the main area of the outside. This pool has different depths for different levels of swimming. There is a basketball hoop and a couple of little kid slides. On the side of the pool are the diving boards, high dives, and diving tower with three platforms. The platforms scare me and all my family who I was with, only my younger sister decided she was brave enough to jump off them.

Of course the main attractions are the water slides. There are two twisty slide in one area that are very fun and two speed slides with sharp drops in another area. The speed slides actually go over the highway. You will probably have to wait in line for quite a while to go on the slides if you are there when it is busy.

Inside there is also a pool for small children where we played with Lucy. The have a lot of spouts and other water features for kids. There is also the Olympic sized pool. Along that pool there is also a rock wall which is fun to climb.

Sum Up

This is a fun place to go if you are in the Southeast Idaho area. There is plenty to do at the Lava Hot Springs swimming pool. They do have locker rooms and also plenty of lawn space for you to set up camp.

It is usually best to get the combination pass if you want to visit the smaller hot springs pools as well.
