Rabbie’s Tour: Glasgow, Scotland Review

One of the stops on our British Isles cruise was in Glasgow, Scotland. We try not to do shore excursions from our cruise ship if we can avoid it due to the price. So I was on the lookout for a good way to get away from the port city and out into the countryside so we could see some of the Scottish highlands. I came across the Rabbie’s Tour company. They had great reviews and had a good looking tour that would fit our schedule quite nicely so I signed up and gave them a shot. Below is a review of the things we did on this tour.

What We Did:

Loch Lomond:

We went to Scotland’s first National Park as our first stop on our tour. It was quite cold the day we were there (well, cold for us Americans) and actually ended up being the coldest day of our entire trip. It was rainy so it was a little too dangerous to go on a hike that had been planned, but we were still able to walk along the shore and see a really, really beautiful lake. And of course we got to listen to the beautiful song Loch Lomond as we were leaving 😉

Scottish Highlands:

On this Rabbie’s tour, we were able to do a lot of touring of the Scottish highlands. We drove and drove through lots of beautiful land and lochs. Our tour guide was amazing and gave us great information about this history of Scotland as well as about the beautiful land we were driving through.

Wooly Coos:

By far my favorite part of this whole Rabbie’s tour was seeing the highland cattle, or Wooly Coos as they’re called locally. They are seriously the cutest, most beautiful animals ever and look so picturesque against the Scottish highlands backdrop. We were there in June and were able to see so many of the baby wooly coos as well. We found a large grouping of them along our tour and our guide was kind enough to pull off the side of the road so we could all go take pictures of them. Again, one of the highlights of this tour for me!

Stirling Castle:

Our last big stop on this tour was to see Stirling Castle. You can see our full review of that here. But it was a great castle that was fun to see and explore. We didn’t have quite as much time as we would have liked to be there, but still had plenty of time to get a pretty good sense of the castle.

Rabbie’s Tour Review:

We really enjoyed going on this Rabbie’s tour. They took great care of us and we had a fantastic time seeing the Scottish countryside. The price was very affordable and we loved that we were being driven around in a 16 passenger van. It made the experience a lot more personal which we LOVED. Being in a smaller tour group is definitely the way to go if you want to be in a tour group. We did have to pay for our own lunch and for entrance into Stirling Castle. But we were fine with that since the price for the tour itself was super low. We had a great balance of driving and seeing with stopping and getting out as well as getting a good amount of time to stop at most of the places.

Rabbie’s offers tours in other parts of the British Isles as well! If we had know that ahead of time we might have done a tour with them when we were in London or Dublin or Edinburgh. If we are ever back in the British Isles, we will definitely be using Rabbie’s again!
