The Museum of the Rockies is a really cool museum that is often the top on the list of “Things to Do in Bozeman, Montana.” And with good reason! There are lots of exhibits including a fantastic dinosaur exhibit that is great for families of all ages.
How To Get To the Museum of the Rockies:
The Museum of the Rockies is located at 600 W. Kagy Blvd. in Bozeman, Montana on the Montana State University Campus. There is free parking as well as an overflow parking lot for larger vehicles like RVs and trailers.
The Museum of the Rockies is usually open from 9:00 am until 4:00 or 5:00 pm depending on the season. To see their current hours and policies, click here. Children under the age of 5 are free and admission prices are $9.50 for children 5-17, $14.50 for ages 18-64, and $13.50 for ages 65+. There are also discounts for Montana State University students, faculty, staff and alumni, military members, AAA members.

The Museum of the Rockies has a lot of really fun exhibits. There is definitely something for everyone!

- Welcome to Yellowstone Country
- Enduring Peoples
- Paugh History Hall
- Living History Farm
There are also other changing exhibits. So there is always something fun to see! To check out their rotating and changing exhibits, you can check out their current list here. When we went, one of the temporary exhibits was all about reptiles and amphibians. It was really fun!
There is also a planetarium that has different shows daily. When we went to Museum of the Rockies last summer, we did not have time to go to the planetarium, but I had gone as a kid and teenager and the shows were really good! When we went, some of our favorite exhibits were the Dinosaur exhibit. You can see so many different dinosaurs! It is really quite an impressive collection. Ben really liked the Yellowstone exhibits. I really liked the Paugh History Hall because it showed the history of the area through artifacts from the fur trappers up through more recent events. Lucy’s favorite exhibits were the dinosaur exhibit and the lizard and amphibian exhibit.

The Museum of the Rockies is a great place to visit next time you are in the Bozeman area. If you’re tired of all of the outside activities or need a break because of bad weather, it is a great indoor option! There are things for people of all ages and lots of exhibits that there is something for everyone.
