We used the Boston City Pass when we were there last August, and we found that it was a really good use of our money! It got us into lots of cool places for way less than if we had paid the individual entrance fees. (Look out for a future blog post about our Boston City Pass experience). One of those places that was on the Boston City Pass was the Museum of Science, Boston.
How to Get to the Museum of Science, Boston:
The Museum of Science, Boston is located right in the heart of the city. With that being said, there is often lots of traffic surrounding the museum. While you can drive there (see directions and parking tips here), we chose to do a combination of walking and public transportation.
To get to the Museum of Science you can take the Green line of the T to the Science Park stop. You can also take other lines to the Museum (details can be found here). We had been on the other side of the river earlier in the day so we decided to walk along the Freedom Trail and walk through North Point Park to get to the Museum of Science, Boston.
What to Do at the Museum of Science, Boston:
One of our favorite things about the Museum of Science, Boston is the fact that they are open late on the weekends. Friday nights they are open until 9:00. This is great because you can do lots of other things during the day when other things are open and spend the evenings at the science museum. We were there for about 3 hours and were able to see basically everything. It was kind of crowded so we didn’t get to do all of the interactive exhibits, but 3ish hours would definitely be plenty of time to spend there.
Like I mentioned above there are a lot of hands on exhibits in the Museum of Science, Boston. They help you explore concepts of energy use, light, magnetism, electricity, optical illusions, the human body and other scientific areas. There are also a lot of exhibits on different animals including a dinosaur exhibit. If you go during the warmer months, there are gardens outside as well that you can walk around and explore.
There are also theater events and an IMAX screen that all have various show times and cover different topics. Some of these are additional costs, but you can add them onto your ticket when you purchase at the ticket office.
Sum Up:
The Museum of Science, Boston is a great way to spend some of your time in Boston. It is located right in the middle of the city and is very easy to get to via car, public transportation and even walking. It opens at 9:00 am daily and closes at 5:00 pm Saturday-Thursday and is open late on Friday nights until 9:00 pm. You can save money by purchasing tickets online ahead of time or by purchasing a Boston City Pass. For current admission prices, check out their website here.
