Fantasyland Favorites at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is their most popular park. So there can be long lines and lots of people. But, that doesn’t make it any less magical! We loved Magic Kingdom so much that we spent two of our vacation days there when we were in Florida to see Disney World. Fantasyland was a definite highlight of the whole park. It is home to many of the classic Disney rides.

How to Get to Fantasyland

As you enter Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, head straight for Cinderella’s Castle right down Main Street. Cinderella’s Castle is the entrance to the Fantasyland area of Magic Kingdom. Make sure you stop (either on your way or later in the day) to take a look inside the castle at the amazing mosaic work that shows scenes from the Cinderella cartoon.

What You Will See and Do in Fantasyland

There are so many things you can see and do in Fantasyland! But I’ll just list some of our favorites as well as some classics that you can find in this area of the park.

Dumbo

One of the most iconic rides in all of Disney. They have recently redone the line to wait for this ride and it includes some fun children’s areas that are circus themed where they can play instead of standing in line. They actually have two of these rides for when the lines are extra long they can get twice as many people through. After the ride, don’t forget to take some pictures in the Dumbo down on the ground!

Enchanted Tales With Belle

This is one of the experiences you can get with a FastPass+ reservation. We just stood in line for it because the line didn’t seem too long. But the line is actually pretty cool. You wait in line just outside of Belle’s house and right before it is your group’s turn, you get to wait inside her house. You go through a little experience/story telling adventure and you get to meet Belle! If the line is longer than 30 minutes, I wouldn’t wait in the line though. While it’s cool, it is definitely geared towards younger children and kids who waited in line longer than 20-30 minutes were not happy campers.

“It’s a small world”

Another Disney classic. While slightly different than the original in Disneyland, this ride is still fun for everyone. We took Lucy on it (she was 3 months old at the time) and while she cried while we stood in line, as soon as that catchy tune started playing, she instantly calmed down and was mesmerized by all the children singing.

Mad Hatter Teacups

And again, another Disney classic. Fantasyland is where you will find a lot of the slower moving classic Disney rides. We hopped on the Teacups when the line was extra short and Lucy wasn’t quite sure what to think about them. If you go to Disney and didn’t ride the teacups, did you really go?

Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

I actually loved this ride! We got a FastPass+ for it because it was something that later in the day still had FastPasses and I was so surprised how much I liked it! It started out as a slow moving cart ride that is also classic to Disney, but part way through the ride when you meet Tigger your honey pot cart starts bouncing like him! When you’re with Winnie the Pooh in a storm, your cart feels like it’s getting blown from side to side! It was such a fun ride and I can see why it is super popular.

Peter Pan’s Flight

This ride is our favorite ride at Disneyland. So we were excited when a FastPass+ was offered for it at Disney World. While it is slightly different than the classic at Disneyland, it is still really fun to get to fly over London and Neverland with Peter Pan and Wendy.

Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train

This is easily the most popular ride in Magic Kingdom, with wait times getting up to 120 minutes! While this ride does have a FastPass+ option, we were not able to get a pass for the ride. So we got to Magic Kingdom right when it opened and I headed straight for this ride while Ben and Lucy walked around the park taking pictures. The wait wasn’t too bad first thing, about 30 minutes. And while it was a fun and neat ride, it is not one that I would want to wait longer than 30 minutes for. I would much rather ride Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain or Splash Mountain if you’re looking for a bigger roller coaster ride.

Under the Sea-Journey of the LIttle Mermaid

This is one of my favorite rides at Disney’s California Adventure. So i was excited we could also ride it here at Magic Kingdom. It is a slow moving cart ride where you hop in a seashell and you go under the sea to the world of Ariel. With all the fun music from the movie, it is a great ride that everyone can enjoy.

Other Things in Fantasyland

Make sure to stop at Gaston’s Tavern at the back of Fantasyland. You can get gigantic cinnamon rolls for a cheap price (they’re not the greatest tasting cinnamon rolls, but they’re a cheap snack that can feed multiple people) and you can also sit in Gaston’s chair! It totally looks just like the tavern from the movie.

The Princess Fairytale Hall is where various Disney Princesses are for character visits. Lucy and I stood in line to meet Rapunzel (who Lucy LOVED) and Snow White (who LOVED Lucy). They have different princesses at different times of day and there are always at least two you can meet.

To get the best pictures with Cinderella’s Castle, take the little road that is just off of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and head towards Liberty Square. Part way down the hill you’ll get the most amazing view of the castle! And at sunset, the lighting is perfect.
