While Future World might give rise to the icon of Epcot, the real reason for going is to see the World Showcase. Meant to evoke the country pavilions and sections of a world’s fair, the World Showcase is like taking a mini tour around the world. Naturally the traveler in me loved this part the best.
The World Showcase is set up around small lake and you can choose to start on either side and then make the loop around. There are 11 countries featured, here I will just touch on our favorites.
Italy
The Italian section of the World Showcase is based a lot on Venice, which happens to be one of my favorite places I have ever visited. True to form the Disney recreation St. Mark’s Square made you feel like you were in tiny version of the real thing. You can also get gelato here, which makes it amazing.
Morocco
I have never been to Morocco, but I would love to go. Being able to visit a mini Morocco in Epcot was an awesome experience. The buildings were really cool, there was a market that could have felt authentic if everything wasn’t Disney priced, and food smelled amazing.
Mexico
Most of the Mexican experience at Epcot takes place inside of a recreation of an ancient temple. Inside there is a market, a restaurant, and even a boat ride. The boat ride features the Three Caballeros and was a fun change up from walking through the countries.
Other Things to Do at Epcot’s World Showcase
There are many things going on all the time at the World Showcase. You can eat food from many different cultures, hear native music from around the world, and soak in the ambiance of each country. Other popular things to do are ride the Frozen ride in Norway (be prepared to wait a looooong time), watch 360 videos in Canada and China, see the Eiffel Tower in France, and learn about cute culture in Japan.
I suggest spending most of your day in Epcot at the World Showcase, it I a lot of fun. It made me miss the countries I have visited and made me long to visit the places I haven’t.
