While we were visiting Meagan’s family in Minnesota recently, we went with them to see the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
As you could probably tell from our reviews of the Lourve and the Orsay in Paris a couple years ago, we are not the best at appreciating art. So I don’t know if we got as much out of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden as some visitors do, but it was fun to visit.
From the pictures online it appears that when it gets warm in Minnesota (they tell me it does, but I have never experienced it) the sculpture garden is a very popular place for people to hangout. We happened to be there in March, which I guess is still winter, so there weren’t a ton of people out while were visiting.
The garden is pretty big with a lot of different types and styles of sculptures in it. A path winds its way around the park to many of the various sculptures, but some of them you will have to leave the path to visit.
The sculptures vary significantly from one to the other. The ones on the north side of the garden are larger and more unique than on the south side. One is a building you can go inside, one a giant swing that you can ride. Our favorite is the cherry on the spoon.
